About me
I’m based in Canberra, Australia. I love an adventure and I love capturing it through photography. I feel privileged visiting the places I do and being able to photograph these experiences is a wonderful memory and means to share it with people.
Adventures
I have a large amount of galleries of various adventures on this site. Some are short, easy trips, and some are hard or multi-day trips. Adventures are typically hiking and cycling, and also kayaking, and if I’m game some climbing.
I have assigned a 4 colour rating scheme for the pins on Google Earth, that represent each of the adventures – green = easy, orange = intermediate, purple = hard, red = almost certain doom.
Site resources
This site is established for both a computer interface and mobile interface. As with all images, I believe the larger the display the better, so please try to view it on a computer screen in preference to a phone. Images on this site have reduced resolution, however the source files are higher resolution.
You can hover a mouse over most images in a thumbnail gallery view and information about the image will appear.
There is faint text underneath the title in the top left corner of the screen. Click on ‘Show location of Google Earth’ for Google Earth to be invoked with a coloured pin showing the location of the adventure.
‘AllTrails Route’ will show a track on Alltrails. You can download the GPX file from there.
‘Notes’ is on the occasional gallery page and provides a brief story of the adventure.
Site navigation
There are several search options available.
Text Search – Found in the bottom right hand corner.
Adventures by Date – Reverse chronological listing of adventures.
Adventures by Location – Adventures grouped into Australian states, and also continents for international locations.
Adventures by Map – Google Earth showing pins for the adventure locations.
My gear
My typical hiking photography kit these days comprises of 2 x Canon R5 bodies with a 24-70mm lens and 100-400mm lens. I sometimes carry a 100mm macro lens and 12mm Samyang lens depending on the location.
I love my DJI Mavic Air drone. I take this for selected locations and specific shoots.
I mostly ride a Specialized Turbo Tero 6 Electric Mountain Bike, and for when I hit the water a Hobie Odyssey kayak.
